CFTC calls cryptocurrency management a priority

The United States Derivatives Exchange Commission (CFTC) will develop cryptocurrency regulation standards, according to the regulator’s strategy for the next four years. In particular, a legal framework will be created to promote innovative tools.

The document emphasizes that new technologies are coming to the markets that must be subject to certain rules. In addition, department experts note that “derivatives markets have experienced an amazing digital transformation.” According to CFTC CEO Heath Tarbert, the regulator is ready to work with digital instruments and add futures not only to leading cryptocurrencies, but this requires the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
