Chinese scientists presented the most powerful quantum computer

Chinese scientists have announced the creation of the most powerful quantum computer for computing in physics experiments, with potential applications in fields such as graph theory and quantum chemistry. The development was named Jiuzhang, and its characteristics exceed a computer from Google by 10 billion times. The results of testing the new device are already available to readers of Science.

So, in just 200 seconds, Jiuzhang is able to calculate a problem that a standard PC would solve for 0.5 billion years. “If we take into account that the prototype of a quantum computer has shown its advantage in certain tasks, then we can see impressive results in many other industries,” said Lu Chaoyang, a scientist at the Chinese University of Science and Technology.
