Chinese taxi aggregator DiDi said it will test the digital yuan on its passengers. This will be possible thanks to cooperation with the Research Institute, a division of the country’s main financial regulator.
Representatives of the company emphasize that partnership is an important step, the purpose of which will be to improve the interaction of online and offline sectors of the economy in China. It is noted that testing will be aimed at recognizing compliance of an asset with safety standards, reliability and regulatory rules.
Despite the fact that specific details have not yet been announced, it is now clear that DiDi will be one of the first sites that will test the national crypto asset. It was previously noted that McDonald’s, Starbucks and Subway, as well as government agencies will join the initiative.
