Halving took place on the Bitcoin network

The long-awaited bitcoin halving for participants in the cryptocurrency market took place. The update took place on block # 630000, which was extracted by the AntPool pool.

The miner reward is now reduced by half and will reach 6.25 BTC for the mined block. It is worth noting that the procedure occurs automatically, since it is prescribed in the corresponding rule at the protocol level.

Recall, the alleged creator of bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto included halvings in the network of his asset every 210 thousand blocks. The update will occur until the cryptocurrency issue is completed (tentatively this will happen in 2040). In turn, the first reduction in remuneration for the mined block took place in November 2012, the second – in July 2016. The next halving will occur in block 840000 in four years.
