One of the world’s largest charitable organizations, Heifer International, has become a new member of the cryptocurrency project of the social network Facebook called Libra.
The main activity of the new member of the Association is aimed at organizing assistance to farms in financial difficulties. According to the statistics of the institution, at present one of the acute problems is the impossibility of opening an account for lending to the activities of such associations (now about 1.7 billion people cannot get their own financial account due to the high cost of opening it and transaction fees).
“We are always looking for opportunities to expand access to financing for farmers and are pleased to announce that Heifer International is joining the Libra Association today,” the charity’s official website says. It is noted that the project will expand financial affordability and bring innovation to the service sector. “We believe that the Libra project is able to create a cheaper, more affordable and connected global financial system. It will allow people to connect to a more reliable and cost-effective platform, ”the report said.
We add, at the moment, the Libra Association has 23 members.
