Legendary Investor Paul Barron Says SEC’s Tokenized-Stock Exemption Will Make Solana ‘Big Winners’ of Crypto-TradFi

As competition in the tokenized stock market shifts from simple issuance to real-world utility, prominent investor Paul Barron today named an asset that traders should target to benefit from its rising valuation. In his podcast shared today, the recognized investor named Solana as one of the top beneficiaries of the SEC’s move to approve trading of certain tokenized stocks on-chain.

The SEC’s announcement today is another evidence that tokenization is set to become one of the biggest trends in the capital markets. Amid this revolution, Barron identified SOL as one of the top winners that could benefit from this trend, with growth likely to happen within the Solana network.

What SEC’s tokenized stocks exemption means

Earlier today, the US SEC granted an important exemption for tokenized stocks, enabling trading of digital versions of publicly traded securities on crypto networks and effectively establishing a regulated connection between TradFi and DeFi infrastructure.

Today, the regulator approved a temporary, conditional exemption to allow trading of tokenized stocks on some onchain platforms. The exemption gives the SEC an opportunity to understand how these platforms function and to inform future policy. The exemption now allows selected firms to operate equities on-chain under a defined regulatory framework for up to five years.

During this period, these companies can issue tokenized stocks, trade them on blockchain-based platforms, and operate without full SEC registration, according to data shared today. With this commitment, the SEC aims to promote on-chain trading of certain tokenized equities through the exemption plan, intending to bring U.S. capital markets into the digital era.

Solana could hit $5.3 trillion by 2031

With this development, Barron believes SOL stands to benefit most from the growing tokenization trend. According to him, higher adoption of tokenized stocks will attract more customers, drive greater transactions, and spur more demand for the blockchain.

Solana’s market cap currently stands at $63.78 billion. Market projections show its valuation is poised to reach $5.3 trillion by 2031 as multiple institutions adopt its network to run tokenized public equities, taking advantage of its low-cost, rapid-processing capabilities.

With the SEC’s innovation exemption now in place, Barron is convinced that numerous institutions will test and run digital versions of their financial products on-chain. As a result, Solana will gain the upper hand, beating Ethereum and others, because of its cost-effectiveness, rapid settlement, and strong customer base.

Solana has a massive user base, which Barron believes will attract institutions to launch new on-chain financial products on the network. With the chain positioning itself as a major platform for tokenization, SOL could expand its demand and utility.
