The head of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina is confident that the digital version of the national currency should be tested on a limited number of users before it becomes widespread in the event of a successful launch.
“This is necessary for us to understand how this will work in the future,” she said, stressing that digital assets will not replace fiat funds. Pilot tests can take place as early as 2021, and the integration of the new asset, according to officials, should be carried out smoothly.
So, each digital ruble will be assigned a unique code that will track the movement of coins and completely cancel the anonymity of transactions. At the same time, Elvira Nabiullina stressed that during the development, special attention will be paid to confidentiality, which will be able to secure the funds of citizens.
