The authorities in the Chinese province of Sichuan plan to ban mining activities on their territory. Officials have already prepared a notification.
So, the message urges investors to immediately stop financing cryptocurrency mining companies, since local hydropower plants are currently under tremendous pressure due to the delay of the rainy season. “Otherwise, the Administration will recommend the district government to investigate and calculate the illegal mining farms, take appropriate fines and other administrative measures until the case is referred to the people’s court for enforcement,” the notification said.
Recall that last week part of the Sichuan miners had to turn off their equipment due to a lack of electricity. Problems in the supply of electricity are associated with a delay in the heavy rainy season, which lasts from May to October. Since the beginning of the month, network load has grown by 22%.
We add that this territory accounts for about 10% of the bitcoin hash.
