1000 Days of #IndiaWantsCrypto

27.07.2021 / Payment system news

The #IndiaWantsCrypto, started by WazirX CEO Nischal Shetty, is by far one of the oldest and most successful crypto campaigns in our country.

And, here we are – celebrating 1000 days of the initiative. Let us take you through some titbits from the last 1000 days.

Nischal started the campaign on 1st November 2018 – ten years after Satoshi Nakamoto published the Bitcoin whitepaper. Nischal has been fighting for the positive regulation of crypto in the country since then.

This is day 1. We need to tweet to our ministers everyday till we get reply. The more we tweet the more chances of our voices being heard and crypto getting a positive regulation in India. RT, Like, Share as much as you can every day. Only together can we make this happen #D1

— Nischal (WazirX) (@NischalShetty) November 1, 2018

He tweeted to parliamentarians, the Prime Minister, and other decision-makers, every day.

On Day 50 of the campaign, he asked the finance minister to trust the youth of India and allow them to participate in the crypto revolution, through an impactful tweet thread.

Dear @arunjaitleyThe youth of India just want their right to participate in this global financial revolution called Crypto.Trust the youth, give them what they want & they'll take India much, much ahead!#IndiaWantsCrypto Jai Hind

After 303 days of addressing our ministers, seeking a positive crypto regulation in India, he achieved one milestone, when he got a positive response from Rajeev Chandrashekhar, a sitting Rajya Sabha MP.

Nischal has been one of the pioneers of the crypto industry in India. He’s been spreading the right education about crypto and envisions making cryptocurrencies accessible in India.

His speculation about CBDCs came true –

Day 679I won’t be surprised if we see a large nation fully adopting CBDC in the next few years. Few nations are already experimenting with CBDC.Hope to see India being one amongst the nations to be early movers in CBDCJai Hind #IndiaWantsCrypto pic.twitter.com/bHHpsA8Ovb

Here are some reasons why #IndiaWantsCrypto?

From one of our social media initiatives, we have got these real-life examples:

In lockdown I was out of my job I heard about crypto and tried to learn it.Really it stood by me in my bad days even still I am trying to learn it and it has given me a lot like I am earning very handsome money.

— SAHIL SAXENA (@SAXENASAHIL06) February 15, 2021

In a society where everyone was forcing me to waste my time learning outdated crap and get stress and depression in return…(for which they'd charge lakhs from my parents)I used that same money in learning and trading crypto, and achieved financial independence
