Bloomberg: Robinhood accounts massively attacked

18.10.2020 / Payment system news

The accounts of the Robinhood platform were hacked, writes Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the situation.

So, it is reported that the owners of 2000 accounts were affected, despite the fact that two-factor authentication was required to enter the portal. It is worth noting that several addresses were the first to suffer at the beginning of the month, then the scammers gained access to user data by hacking. The exact amount of damage was not disclosed.

The attacks sparked a flood of complaints on social media, where investors talked about unsuccessful attempts to call Robinhood representatives to prevent theft of funds, but due to the lack of contact details on the service page, they were unable to do so.

We add that the Robinhood audience currently numbers over 13 million people.
