The Chinese authorities continue to test the digital currency. According to the governor of the People’s Bank of China Yi Gang, the tests of the new asset are going on as usual. So, at the moment, users have carried out over 4 million transactions in the new currency for a total of $ 299 million.

And Gang also noted that modern technologies have significantly expanded the payment options even in remote areas of the country. In addition, replacing banknotes with digital money makes it possible to avoid an increase in coronavirus infections, thereby ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens.

We will remind, last month, the Shenzhen authorities for the first time carried out the distribution of the new currency among the population. More than 1.9 million people applied to the authorities for one of the 50,000 “red envelopes”.
