The Canadian tax authorities sent a request to the courts, where they asked to oblige the Coinsquare crypto platform to transfer information about customers, starting in 2013. According to The National Post, this is necessary to check citizens for compliance with national tax laws.

In particular, the authorities intend to check whether Coinsquare customers are paying tax duties and whether they are not using digital assets for money laundering. If illegal actions are detected, the authorities promise to conduct a larger-scale audit.

In turn, representatives of Coinsquare noted that they are currently studying the documents from the Tax Service, but declined to comment on their further steps.

Note, according to the department, from July 2018 to December last year, 90% of the volumes on Coinsquare were created artificially.
